Its fun to have sisters!

One of my sisters, Amy recently came home from the States two weeks ago. We missed her very much so we celebrated her return with pedicures and videoke. I love having sisters! You always have someone there for you. Our age gaps are only a year apart so it is easy to relate with each other- we share shoes and clothes, go shopping, give love advice, pig-out with carbs be ourselves and just hang out.

We had our nails painted in David’s Salon. Jenny had a foot spa and pedicure, Amy got a French tip and I went out of the salon proud and happy with my black toe nails. I chose black to signify the goth girl in me haha! Butch loved it by the way. That weekend we had a great time in Red Box, Trinoma singing our lungs out in videoke. We frantically entered our favorite songs onto the machine till it just gave up and froze. I felt sorry for Jenny’s boyfriend, Patrick who had to endure two hours of our singing!

In a brood of four girls, I am third. The eldest is Ivy. She is married and has two adorable babies- Iris and Chloe. She’s currently taking up culinary arts and invents her own fat free but delicious pastas. Very fashion forward, she was one the popular girls during her high school years. Even up to now in cooking school, classmates would ask her where she buys her clothes.

The smartest one is Amy. She just arrived home after passing her Medical Board Exams in the U.S. She’s going to be an Internal Medicine Specialist in one of the best hospitals in New York. Amy is kind-hearted and very generous. Though she did not earn much in her stay in the States, she still brought gifts for all the members of our family. I am very certain that all her dreams in the medical field will come true. God will bless her because she shares what she has with everyone.

Jenny, the youngest is always a hit with the kids. Why wouldn’t she be, she’s an elementary teacher at Ateneo De Manila, one of the most prestigious schools in the Philippines. She facilitated the parlor games during Chloe’s 6th birthday and I was surprised with the control and techniques she used with the rowdy kids! Jenny also has good taste in clothes. This is such a good thing for me because she lets me borrow them. We have a code though, in borrowing- NEVER “PREMIERE” (use for the first time) another sister’s outfit. Let the person who brought it use it first after it comes back from the laundry, that’s the time to borrow.

I wish I could spend more time with them because sooner or later, We won’t be able to see each other as often as now. Amy will definitely go back to the States and live there permanently, Ivy is already raising her own family and Jenny will probably go to the States too.

Its surprising I am only appreciate them now. Probably because growing up, I felt very different from them. While they loved listening to Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul and Celine Dione they hated it when I played my offbeat Tori Amos, Fiona Apple and Bjork tapes. While they read and collected Sweet Valley High and John Grisham paperbacks, I was wasting my allowance on English literature and poetry books I didn’t even completely understand. Man, I was so different before. The jaded, depressed anti-social Wendy 15 years ago probably won’t recognize the Wendy now. I’m just seeing how really blessed I am to have them. From now on, I will relish every moment I have with them.

Hi Friend,
May I request, if it is not too much of a burden to you, to please subscribe to my Feedburner Feeds either through email or to my RSS Feed Reader. You can find them at the upper portion of my sidebars at all my blogs. This will save you the time of going over to my blogs to find out if I have made a new posting. The FeedBurner will automatically transmit, either through email or Feed Reader (whichever you choose), any new post that I make. This will facilitate linkages between us. I will do the same for you if you have your own feeds, but if you still don't have I will still visit your blog as often as I could. Just inform me via email or through your comment in any of my blogs that you have already enrolled in any of my feeds so that I can reciprocate your gesture. I will appreciate it very much if you could do this as it will definitely boost ranking for my blogs. Thank you very much for your usual kind cooperation and patronage of my blogs. God bless you and your loved ones always.

hello wendy! I guess having sisters really gives a lot of advantages --- especially when the age gap is not that big. And kudos to your sis Amy.

You know, your last paragraph about being different reminds me of my younger years. While everybody seems to be listening to the music of the late 80's and the 90's, I'm plugged into the world of The Carpenters, Barry Manilow, Broadway music and the likes. My friends are still on Sweet Valley High and Sweet Dreams, but I've already moved on to Mills and Boon and those 500-page thick historical romances:)

Well, enjoy your time with your sisters :)

Wow, what a beautiful and smart-looking bunch (especially the one in eyeglasses :). Your parents did well! :) I'm sure you'll have beautiful kids someday too with their lovely tita's to take care of them. :)

I've always wished to have a big sister (I'm the eldest in a brood of 2 boys and 1 girl :(, the closest thing to a big sister that I had was my Tita, my Mom's only sister....

I don't have any sisters, but I have 2 brothers. Sigh! I've always wanted one, but I guess you can't have everything you want. My brothers and I are close enough, though, but there are some things that I just can't share with them, some things they don't "get" about me and me about them.
