Yesterday, January 13, 2009 was the 2nd year anniversary of my marriage to Butch. During our first year anniversary, we celebrated it by going on a three-day trip to Bohol. It’s been one year of enjoying and adjusting to the married life. And now, we are more than ready and very excited to take our marriage to the next level- having a baby. For anyone who’s planning to get married, I highly recommend waiting a year or two to have children. This will give you and your hubby time to get to know each other while living in one roof and just take pleasure in each other’s company.
If we were not expecting Nigel to come, we’d probably celebrate this year by going to Boracay. We could have used the round trip tickets Butch won in an office raffle. But since I am expected to go into labor anytime, we opted to go on a mall date instead. Butch took a day off from work and we spent the whole afternoon in Asia’s “largest” and “most entertaining” mall- SM Mall of Asia. We had lunch in a Japanese themed restaurant called Terriyaki Boy. Since I am still watching my blood sugar, I let Butch have most of my rice. I am beginning to love Japanese food! Its flavor is subtle yet very tasty. We wanted to watch a movie but there was nothing that caught mine or his fancy. We just strolled and looked around inside the mall. By 4pm, we went out to see the view of Manila Bay. I was very surprised to see there were lots of people even though it was a weekday. I walked the length of the bay as Butch took snapshots of anything he could find interesting. I still do my 1-2 hours walk everyday to help Nigel settle into my pelvis. Manila Bay with its fresh air and entertaining sights and sound was a perfect venue for that. There was heavy traffic on the way home must be because everybody else was also going home from work. I am not sure if it was a sign of impending labor but I had painful Braxton Hicks contractions last night. Nigel was also moving around in between contractions. Oh well, I’ll be going to my OB-GYN later, we’ll see if I’ve dilated.

Goals for 2009
I am not really into making New Year’s resolutions. They’re overrated and besides, it has a reputation of being NOT FOLLOWED! Instead, I make goals. I think of it this way, at the end of the year, how do I picture myself? What would have I accomplished by that time?
This year I want to…
Learn the odds and ends of being a parent
Last year was all about getting pregnant and being pregnant. 2009 will be all about learning how to be a parent. My blog Nurturing Nigel will be a witness to this. With the guidance from the Lord, other mommies, books and parental instinct, I know I can do it. I also need to learn how to balance and manage my time well so no area will suffer.
Continue blogging
I want make more money so that I can bless others. I am going to make major changes here in From the Eyes of my Heart. Get it out of blogger and have it hosted professionally. I’ll probably change its name too! A friend from church is willing to help me out with this. I want to place more inspiring stuff instead of commercialized ones. I started doing paid post last year with this blog. Prior to that I only updated it once a week. It started out with a PR of 3. But I noticed the PR dropped to a big fat 0 when began doing paid posts. Nevertheless, I do not regret accepting paid posts for this blog. It taught me a lot of things about paid blogging which I will apply with my other blogs. When I’ve finished revamping, I will no longer do paid post with on this site.
I will definitely go ahead with my plan to sponsor a kid or two with World Vision with my blogs earnings.
Help out in my church’s vision and mission
I just love JOHIA’s (my local church) theme this year. It’s “Made to worship”. Years ago, I made a commitment to the Lord that I will use every ounce of my talent and creativity to build His kingdom. My participation in various ministries went into hiatus when I became pregnant early this year. The last Praise and Worship event I participated in was the 24-hour Praise and Worship thing in Colossians Garden, Tagaytay way back April. I am definitely going back to the worship team this year.

More Birthdays to come!
There will be more birthday celebrations in my family in the weeks and months to come. This Thursday will be my mom’s birthday. My sisters Jenny and Ivy and their families will come for a small family gathering. My mom is turning 59 this year. Yes, next year she will be a senior citizen. She is looking forward to getting her senior citizen card to avail of all sorts of discounts. Last December was my own birthday. On February it will be Ivy, my eldest sister’s birthday. March will be Butch’s and Chloe’s and April will be Jenny’s! Wow our family is really growing. Jenny’s baby will be born on the month of May. And oh, Nigel will be coming out this month! There seems to be a birthday celebrant for all month!
Did you know that each month has a precious stone assigned to it? This is called the birthstone and they say owning one will bring positive energy into the life of the person. Amy already has her birthstone according to her birth month August. A high school friend gave her a Peridot when she was a teen-ager. Since my mom’s birth month is January, her’s is a garnet. How I wish I could give her one for her birthday. I’ve already given her a cardigan sweater for Christmas, but I am sure she’d love to receive jewelry for her birthday. My own birthstone is the beautiful blue Turquoise. Do you know your own birthstone? Here’s a list of the months and the gemstones associated with it:
January – Garnet
February- Amethyst
March- Aquamarine
April- Diamond
May- Emerald
June- Pearl
July- Ruby
August- Peridot
September- Sapphire
October-Opal
November- Topaz
December- Turquoise
